I'm not too sure why but I am a bit upset with not going back. I have nothing negative to say about St. Francis Heights or St. Francis Pavilion their sister building. On December 17th I was admitted to St. Francis Heights skilled nursing home and it was an awful experience. The commode chair was unstable and I had to ask for it to be fixed.
My aunt is recovering from an operation at this facility and I visited her recently. There is plenty of staff, so help is available when needed, and the staff are cheerful and friendly. And she praised the cleaning crew in particular, who she says are meticulous. The facility does seem clean and well maintained, though a bit old. About the only negative I noted is that the facility is a bit noisy. The tile floors carry a lot of sound, and the public address system is loud and used frequently.

My mom was recovering from a broken hip, had pneumonia, has congestive heart failure and stage 4 kidney disease.
After the first two days, while we got used to the facility and the facility got used to the patient, things went surprisingly well. There were no complaints about the food, the bed was clean, he was changed regularly, but not bathed as often as he would have wished. The therapists were among the best and kept the family up to date on his progress. I found the CNAs pleasant and willing to please once they knew what was expected of them by the family. My suggestion is that you visit the facility and speak with the staff - not just the admissions director - before deciding for or against them.

The staff had diapered her and told her to relieve herself in her diaper. Later, a nurse advised that my mother's medical notes said she was incontinent. She was just being infantilized by the routines of the convalescent hospital.
